Sherieta

Sherieta is an artiste out of Jamaica with an impressive list of accomplishments.
As a writer, she has written lyrics for several well-known acts such as Etana (Warrior Love), Luciano (No Evil) and a few songs for Jah Cure including 'Freedom' and the hit song, 'You'll Never Find'.  She has also worked with internationally renowned reggae singer, Taurus Riley as a back-up vocalist.Recently, she decided to begin her own journey in the music industry and has already been receiving a good amount of support for her music both locally and internationally.  She has managed to establish successful relationships with top class producers; Dean Fraser, Mickey Bennett, Chris Birch and Donovan Germaine which has so far led to the release of three singles; 'Lies', 'In the name of your Love' and 'Reggae is Life'.  Most recently, she released another single 'Come Find Me', also produced by Donovan Germaine.

Having just returned from a massive Summer Festival Tour of Europe (UK, France, Belgium, Italy and Portugal) with special guest Brother Culture (UK’s top MC who appears on the latest Prodigy release), Toronto’s Dubmatix is back with his 4th CD release “System Shakedown” - 13 tracks of heavy bass sounds that will shake the foundations of sound systems worldwide. This new release spans a musical range of Rocksteady, Dubstep, Dub, Roots, Electro to Future Shock Dub and Drum'n'Bass. During the past 18 months Dubmatix has been busy in the studio producing, recipient of a 2010 JUNO Award for Best Reggae Recording, and on the road with 7 tours across Canada, Mexico and Europe, as well as collaborating with various artists/bands worldwide including original Big Audio Dynamite member & Grammy Winner - Don Letts, remixing a track for the now classic Easy All Stars breakout release “Dub Side of the Moon” (due for release late 2010), studio work with one of Canada’s top indie rock acts U.S.S. (Ubiquitous Synergy Seeker) – and a collaborative remix with U.S.S. for Motown’s latest hit group Down With Webster.

Music runs deep within the veins as does the various musical styles Dubmatix brings to his fresh, distinctive productions - from pure, old-school King Tubby dub to the freshest electro-shock to classic conscious roots to Drum'n'Bass and more. Growing up, Dubmatix spent countless hours recording first on a 4-track reel-to-reel tape machine and later, one of the first 12-track digital home studio’s of the 80s. Recording rock, blues, acid, reggae and more – Dubmatix honed his musical skills for writing, arranging and recording. A multi-instrumentalist, Dubmatix performs all instruments on each release that include Drums, Guitar, Bass, Piano/Keyboard, Melodica, Percussion.

Dubmatix brings these years of experimentation and learning to his current productions – whether it is his own material or outside projects. Dubmatix has developed a unique signature sound and style that is immediately recognizable – a Phil Spector-esque full sound utilizing heavy bass, majestic horn lines, thick-set percussive grooves, and strong production values. It is this unique style and sound that has made Dubmatix much sought after by artists and bands worldwide to bring his distinct flavor to their recordings.

With the 2010 JUNO Win and Touring Schedule Dubmatix is busier than ever with slotted remixes for a multitude of artists worldwide, two scheduled Dubmatix dub-oriented albums, an electro side-project (Joint Chiefs of Staff), remix album of System Shakedown, and producing outside projects for other bands.

Everton Blender

Born 54-years ago in the Clarendon parish on Maxfield Avenue, deep in the heart of Kingston, Jamaica, Everton Dennis Williams....better known as 'Everton Blender', began performing as a teenager by singing the songs of his reggae hero 'Dennis Brown'.

Using the name "Babbaru", he won an amateur talent contest on his second try, and went on to perform with the 'Destiny Outer national', 'Master Voice', and 'Santex' sound systems, thus releasing several singles...including, "Where is Love", and "Ba Ba Black Sheep".

However, by 1985 Blender had failed to achieve commercial success, and returned to his first trade as a house painter and decorater. Then, in 1991 Blender's friend and rising reggae star "Garnet Silk" introduced him to record producer 'Richard Bell', who signed Blender to his "Star Trail" label.

This second time around spelled immediate success for Blender with "We No Jus' a Come" becoming a big hit in Jamaica.  His stardom then spread to the United Kingdom, where his first album 'Lift Up Your Head' reached number four on the 'Black Echoes' music chart.

As further albums and singles followed, Blender's friend Garnet Silk achieved similar success, and both artists became prominent influences during the 1990's return to cultural reggae. Unfortunately, Silk's life was cut short in 1994 when he was killed trying to save his mother's life in a house fire.

Blender went on to record eleven more albums over the next twelve years, including a collection of his early singles tracks called "Piece of Da Blender; The Singles" in 1996.  Blender also managed to start up his own label called "Blend Dem Productions", and worked with artists like 'President Brown', 'Admiral Tibet', 'Louie Culture', 'Jah Mason', 'Spanner Banner', 'Richie Spice', and 'Anthony B'.

Blender has also toured world-wide to enthusiastic audiences, trying to spread the reggae culture.  In Africa he once said, "They need to know about their culture...and some people like to come out and see da Jamaican culture too".

I'm sure many have, and when they did.... they saw and heard Everton Blender's award winning, crooning, tenor vocals which seem to capture an up-tempo, spiritually uplifting sound that finally bridges the gap between 'roots reggae' and Jamaican 'dancehall'.  It's all just Everton....Blending it SMOOTH!
