Born Jacob Williams In Harlesden To A Jamaican Father And Dominican Mother, He Dealt With Numerous Obstacles After Leaving School. Once He Overcame These Issues He Joined Up With Childhood Friend And Fellow Artist Reddmann (Uk), And Was Enlisted Into The Uk Dancehall Collective Suncycle. Their First Album Titled Suncyle Included Ranks' Homage To His Home Town, "Harlesden". Their Second Album I Am Somebody Was Released On The Uk Label Jamdown Records. Ranks Left The Group In 2004 And Began His Solo Career. Nicknamed 'Gappy' Due To The Gap Between His Front Teeth, He Initially Worked Under The Name 'Daddy Gappy', Before Opting For The Cutty Ranks
Influenced 'Gappy Ranks'. In 2005 Gappy Ranks Was Featured On The Vice Law Entertainment Mix Tapes. That Same Year, He Won The 'Best Song' Award At London's Silk Awards For "Little Understanding", Released By Uk Reggae Record Label Stingray Records, Also In 2005, Ranks Contributed To The Single "What We Do" By Kray Twinz Featuring Twista And Lethal B, Which Charted Nationally In The Uk At Number 23. Ranks Performed Live At Earl's Court In Front Of A Crowd Of 17, 000 For The First Kiss 100 Awards. He Also Played A Full Uk Tour Which Brought Him To Cities Such As Manchester, Birmingham, And Newcastle. He Recorded For Former Uk Reggae Giants Jet Star Records In North West London Where He Became Assistant Engineer, Giving Him Time To Grow And Develop His Love For Music And Network Which Led Him To Work With Record Label Peckings. On 26 December 2009 Gappy Ranks Childhood Wish Was Granted, As He Performed At The Celebrated Annual Sting Event In Jamaica. He Began To Tour Throughout The World Starting With European Countries Such As France, The Netherlands, Italy, Germany, And Switzerland. In 2010 He Released His First Album Put The Stereo On On Greensleeves' Peckings Subsidiary. Ranks Was Nominated For The 2010 Mobo Award In The 'Best Reggae Act' Category. In 2011 Ranks Followed Up With His Second Album Thanks & Praise, This Time On His Own Hot Coffee Music Label, Which Was Distributed By Vp Records. The I & I U.S. Tour 2014 kicks off in southern California on Oct. 22 and wraps up in Tampa, FL, on Nov. 30.

I WAYNE BIO

I Wayne is a DJ’s dream. His VP Records produced hits, “Can’t Satisfy Her” “Living in Love” and “Lava Ground” have moved the masses with intoxicating beats and militant lyrics while inspiring love and romance in the dancehall. Throughout his career, I Wayne has demonstrated the ability to touch people at large scale music festivals as well as intimate night spots.

Born Cliffroy Taylor in Portmore, JA, I Wayne was raised by his aunt and her husband, legendary keyboardist Ansell Collins, known for his work with Jimmy Cliff and other artists. I Wayne remembers singing along while Collins played the keyboards. According to the singer, his moniker, I Wayne, derived from his childhood nickname, Dwayne, given to him by his parents.

In Rastafarian culture, I & I represents the oneness between the human and the divine.

I Wayne is also known for his expansive vocal range, which can soar from low tenor to falsetto.

“I would classify myself as a chanter, a singer and a singjay,” said I Wayne. “I don’t limit myself. Sometimes, I blend the three styles on one riddim to create a new sound. I can blend reggae with R&B.”

With his chart topping, soul-infused dancehall anthem, “Can’t Satisfy Her,” I Wayne brought to light the rampant sexual exploitation of women in Jamaica. Partially based on news reports and actual events that took place in his community, “Can’t Satisfy Her” tells the tragic tale of a young woman who went into prostitution to escape poverty and lack of opportunity.

As a photogenic artist with a huge female fan base, I Wayne does not consider himself a reggae sex symbol per se. But he feels that it important to create a balance between being hard core and sensual in his music.

“With females, you know, you have to put some of the harsh vibes aside and deal with it calm,” said I Wayne. “You haffi move like the lava.”

According to I Wayne, his hit politically charged hit, “Lava Ground” is a metaphor for the power of nature and the Most High, and warns people against committing injustice.

“I’m just reminding people that the lava; it’s nature; it’s more powerful than the gun and the knife,” said I-Wayne.

I Wayne glorifies the regenerative power of volcano, which can cause mass destruction when spewing fire, but is also a fertile ground for vegetation; lava rocks can also be turned into beautiful glass and gems.

On the I & I U.S. Tour 2014, I Wayne is looking forward to going back on the road, sharing his energy with his fans and generating new ideas.

Rising star Black Am I is a protégée of Damian Marley and Ghetto Youths International. In the summer of 2014, Black Am I performed as one of the opening acts for Damian Marley, performing at large scale music events such as the California Roots Music and Arts Festival in Monterey, CA.

Along with embarking on the I & I U.S. Tour 2014, Black Am I will perform with Shaggy, Etana, Wayne Marshall, Christopher Ellis, Tarrus Riley and other reggae greats on the Welcome to Jamrock Reggae Cruise, hosted by Damian Marley, from Oct. 20-25.

Black Am I was born Owen Davis on Nov. 17, 1984 in Nine Miles, JA, the birthplace of reggae icon Bob Marley. In honor of Robert Nesta Marley, Black Am I received the nickname I-Nesta from his father. He began writing lyrics at age 16 and recorded his first demo CD in 2005. He derived his moniker from his song “Black Am I” the first track he recorded for Ghetto Youths International. The song promotes black pride, solidarity and self-determination.

“The song says that I am black and I won’t be doing certain things like bleaching my skin; and I will stick to my roots and culture,” said Black Am I.

Other notable tracks by Black Am I include “Modern Day Freedom,” and “Sound System.”

Vocally, Black Am I considers himself a singjay; his influences include, naturally, Bob Marley as well as fiery roots reggae artists such as Damian Marley, Tarrus Riley Sizzla Kolonji, Jah Mason and Jah Cure.

“I’ve always wanted to do music could inspire people and could have the kind of impact that Bob Marley’s music has,” said Black Am I. “My message to the youth is to take life serious, and make sure that you know that education is the key. Do what you love and love what you do, and do it to the best of your ability.”

 The new school year should see Jamaican students singing a different tune.

So believes Push Hitz Records' reggae/dancehall artiste Alkamis, as he prepares to put the finishing touches on his soon-to-be released Students single. The song, he said, is just a reminder to youngsters of the path they should follow.
"As the name suggests, it has something to do with the students. We a oppose and a propose, trying to get them on the right track. Trying to get them to know what them supposed to do and what them nuh supposed to do", said Alkamis.
The song touches on topics that are seen on a regular basis in high schools throughout the island.
"It's about things that we see every day from the youth in the schools. We touch the bleaching topic, the cellular phone topic, the pinch leave an inch, and even the economy," he shared.
Alkamis believes the song will be positively received as it is catchy and its message is one that everyone can relate to.
"Students, the nation need yuh - careful how yuh wheel and tun. Certain things yuh a do yuh doan need to, serious though yuh think it fun. It goes something like that, it's very catchy," said Alkamis.
European scene
The singjay who has found favour with reggae fans on the European scene is ready to step up his game and make his voice heard in Jamaica. Among Alkamis' previous releases are Can't Stop Loving You, Faith Inside, Badmind and Rain On Me. All have been positively received in the United States and European reggae market having good support from radio stations.
Students will open the ears of the young and old to his music with its uplifting, informative and educational content.

ARTIST BIO – Orlando “Alkamis” Johnson
When you hear the name Alkamis, you’re immediately struck with curiosity that this unique name belongs not to a rapper or a dj, but to one of Jamaica’s rising crooners. What will keep you his is soulful voice, set to destined to be a part of Jamaican music near and far.
Raised in Lampard, a fruitful farming district in the parish of Clarendon, Jamaica, Orlando Johnson started his musical career, singing at church and entertaining his supportive family (which includes nine siblings). As Orlando grew and his voice became stronger, so did his performances.
Outgrowing the church choir, Orlando started performing at stage shows, concerts, school programs, and parties. He began experimenting lyrically with clean topics ranging from history, love, and current affairs, voicing on RnB tracks as well as Dancehall riddims and Reggae ‘One Drop’ style tracks.
In 2005, Orlando saw the vision to pursue his musical talents professionally. Around this time, the stage name “Alkamis” was birthed. While in a session with Gumption Band, it was noted that “Orlando could put lyrics together like a Chemist” and the name Alkamis has stuck ever since.
Shortly after Alkamis linked with Askhelle from Vision House, who’s been a helpful hand in toward a professional career. In 2010 he was introduced to producers of Push Hitz Records; Delano Smith and Desmond Hepburn by a family member named Yvette Johnson. Within the last few years, Alkamis has recorded “No Love Again”, “Faith Inside” and “Can’t Stop Loving You”, as well as “Rain On Me”, “Forever”, ”My Turn”.
Inspired by Beres Hammond, Spragga Benz and Wayne Wonder, Alkamis has crafted his own sound combining the sweet melodies of ‘One Drop’ Reggae with a mix of soulful RnB. To showcase his talent, Alkamis would love to collaborate with veteran U-Roy and sultry singer Alaine.
At present Alkamis will be releasing the video for “Rain On Me” and prepping for his debut album. While the rising crooner is respectful that his professional career is taking a greater leap,

Diana King is a reggae fusion singer-songwriter, who performs a mixture of R&B, reggae and dancehall. Diana was born on November 8, 1970 in Spanish Town, Jamaica to an Indo-Jamaican father and an Afro Jamaican mother. Diana’s career began after she made an appearance on The Notorious B.I.G.'s 1994 song "Respect," from his album Ready to Die. Diana signed a recording contract with Sony Music. Her first single "Shy Guy", came off her debut album “Tougher Than Love” released in 1995. It was a hit, reaching #13 on the Billboard Hot 100. It was certified gold by the RIAA in the U.S. It also hit #2 on the UK Singles Chart and it reached #1 on the Eurochart Hot 100 Singles chart. The single went on to sell nearly five million singles worldwide. The “Shy Guy” song made the soundtrack to the 1995 film, Bad Boys. Diana King not only sings her reggae and dancehall music that sounds awesome, she also does cover versions of two of my favorite singers. She did a cover version of the song "I Say a Little Prayer" (originally recorded by Dionne Warwick in 1967) and did a fantastic job. Diana also did a cover version of the Chaka Khan’s “Ain’t Nobody”, which was on her second album “Think Like a Girl” released in 1997. Diana released her third album “Respect” on July 24, 2002, in Japan. Eventually it was released in other markets, such as the UK on April 17, 2006 and released digitally in the United States on April 29, 2008. "Summer Breezin” the lead single off this album was played on BET, VH1 video and received some urban radio play. Warrior Girl was Diana’s fourth album, but it was released in the United States (under the title Agirlnameking) on November 8, 2011. Out of all her songs on all four albums, my favorites are “Summer Breezin”, “Shy Guy”, “L L Lies”, “Yu dun Kno”, "Closer", "When We Were Kings" (with Brian McKnight), "Love Triangle" and “Love Me Thru The Night”. Diana King is one of those artists that can sing. I can’t believe I have never heard of her, this lady is a real talent!! Her voice is unbelievable. In her personal life Diana came out as a lesbian.
